Roofing

Whether you need a roof for new construction or a roof replacement due to age or storm damage, we offer a broad selection of professional grade shingles and roofing materials.

Southern Home Services offers quality products you can trust from North America’s Largest Roofing Manufacturer, GAF. Their 3-Part Protection Program starts with finding a GAF certified contractor. GAF has certified SHS as a Master Elite Contractor (less than 2% of roofing contractors qualify.) That means we must be trained to install GAF products, maintain General Liability and Worker’s Compensation insurance at all times, and be licensed in North and South Carolina. GAF’s Master Elite Program allows SHS to offer the best roofing warranty in the business: GAF’s Golden Pledge – a warranty so strong that GAF covers workmanship for 25 years!

SELECT ShingleMaster™ (SSM) – This is the top level CertainTeed roofing credential, and represents the highest standards of excellence, quality and knowledge in the shingle roofing industry. An SSM has shown extensive knowledge of shingle installation and quality through rigorous testing, and has provided CertainTeed with proof of workers’ compensation and liability insurance. Only an SSM can offer you the highest level of SureStart PLUS™ extended warranty coverage when an Integrity Roofing System is installed on your home.

As you can see, we offer layers of confidence and trust to help you achieve peace of mind when taking on your roofing project!

F.A.Q.

Have a question? Here are some of our most inquired about items, but you may always contact a project consultant or our office for more information.

What color should I choose for my roof?

There are so many choices! Don’t be overwhelmed. It is the responsibility of your project consultant to make this choice simple for you. He will work with you to narrow down the colors and finishes and help you make decisions based on your preference, the general “look” of your neighborhood and even what works best for the weather in your area!

What happens if it rains before my project is complete?

Our scheduler and crews do an excellent job of predicting the timing of weather and time to complete your job, however, sometimes Mother Nature has some tricks up her sleeve. In these instances, they will very securely tarp any exposed areas of your home to ensure that no weather will penetrate or damage any areas that are not yet completed.

Will your consultant be at my house for hours?

Not unless you want us there for that long! We understand that your time is very valuable and we will stay as long as necessary to make you feel comfortable about the choices you are making but we NEVER overstay our welcome and will gladly schedule a follow up appointment to allow you time to mull over what we have to offer and bring any questions to the table.

You guys aren't one of those fly by night roofers are you?

Absolutely not! We have been serving Charlotte and surrounding areas since 2001. We will gladly help you in your process for hopefully getting a new roof if you have suffered storm damage, but we will also be there to stand by our work for years to come.

Are you one of those huge companies that think of me as just another roof?

No way! We are a family owned business that considers YOU part of the “SHS Family” when you contract with us. We have many customers who have used our services for one home, moved, and been sure to contact us for improvements on their new home because we stand by our work. We remember you and that’s why we often replace one component of someone’s home exterior and they return to us for subsequent items.

Siding

Energy efficient, attractive siding is one of the best investments a home owner can make to add equity and value to a home.

For more than 10 years, Remodeling magazine has ranked residing your home with fiber cement siding in the top 5 for return on investment for jobs costing more than $1200. The magazine has conducted the study since 1988 and compares construction costs for remodeling projects with the value they add to a home at resale in the current real estate market. 2005 was the first year they evaluated fiber cement siding replacement, and maintaining its position at the top of the list is a clear marker of the value it provides to homeowners.

SHS completes the annual training program offered by James Hardie pertaining to general installation requirements, critical to quality requirements, and a review of current best practices. We are proud to be a preferred contractor of James Hardie installing America’s #1 brand of siding. Check out our profile here.

For generations, low-maintenance Mastic siding from Ply Gem has been the number #1 choice among homeowners, builders and remodelers. Solid and tough, Mastic premium siding stands up to extreme weather, requires little maintenance, and is an eco-friendly choice for your family. Best of all, you’re covered with an industry leading V.I.P. limited lifetime warranty backed by Ply Gem, the 75-year leader in pioneering performance home exteriors. We offer lap, vertical, and shake & shingle styles.

Mastic offers Vinyl Siding for virtually every situation — for high heat and extreme sun, for pounding hail and hurricane-force winds, for everyday dents and dings, for the ultimate in color choices, and more. Ply Gem’s proprietary technologies ensure our vinyl siding holds tight, lasts longer, and performs well year after year.
