Whether you need a roof for new construction or a roof replacement due to age or storm damage, we offer a broad selection of professional grade shingles and roofing materials.
Southern Home Services offers quality products you can trust from North America’s Largest Roofing Manufacturer, GAF. Their 3-Part Protection Program starts with finding a GAF certified contractor. GAF has certified SHS as a Master Elite Contractor (less than 2% of roofing contractors qualify.) That means we must be trained to install GAF products, maintain General Liability and Worker’s Compensation insurance at all times, and be licensed in North and South Carolina. GAF’s Master Elite Program allows SHS to offer the best roofing warranty in the business: GAF’s Golden Pledge – a warranty so strong that GAF covers workmanship for 25 years!
SELECT ShingleMaster™ (SSM) – This is the top level CertainTeed roofing credential, and represents the highest standards of excellence, quality and knowledge in the shingle roofing industry. An SSM has shown extensive knowledge of shingle installation and quality through rigorous testing, and has provided CertainTeed with proof of workers’ compensation and liability insurance. Only an SSM can offer you the highest level of SureStart PLUS™ extended warranty coverage when an Integrity Roofing System is installed on your home.
As you can see, we offer layers of confidence and trust to help you achieve peace of mind when taking on your roofing project!
The Roofing Process
Before your roofing project is ready to commence, there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes to ensure that your job runs efficiently. Our full service staff will create a game plan to execute a seamless job from start to finish and keep you informed along the way.
When the day arrives to replace your roof, your dedicated project manager will oversee the following process:
1) Material delivery to a pre-determined location decided by you and your estimator.
2) Arrival of our crew with a dump trailer for disposal of your old roof and all related construction debris.
3) Protection of your home and landscaping with tarps.
4) Removal of all associated materials.
5) Inspection of your roof deck (plywood) and replacement as necessary.
6) Installation of all roofing system components: drip edge, underlayment, ice & water shield, starter shingles, field shingles, ventilation products, flashing details, and roof penetration components.
7) Extensive clean up with magnetic rakes.
8) Final inspection by SHS and county authorities as necessary.
9) Warranty registration with all necessary manufacturers.

New gutters are a great way to keep your fascia and soffits healthy. Ask your project consultant about adding guards as well for virtually clog-free gutters.
Have a question? Here are some of our most inquired about items, but you may always contact a project consultant or our office for more information.
What color should I choose for my roof?
There are so many choices! Don’t be overwhelmed. It is the responsibility of your project consultant to make this choice simple for you. He will work with you to narrow down the colors and finishes and help you make decisions based on your preference, the general “look” of your neighborhood and even what works best for the weather in your area!
What happens if it rains before my project is complete?
Our scheduler and crews do an excellent job of predicting the timing of weather and time to complete your job, however, sometimes Mother Nature has some tricks up her sleeve. In these instances, they will very securely tarp any exposed areas of your home to ensure that no weather will penetrate or damage any areas that are not yet completed.
Will your consultant be at my house for hours?
Not unless you want us there for that long! We understand that your time is very valuable and we will stay as long as necessary to make you feel comfortable about the choices you are making but we NEVER overstay our welcome and will gladly schedule a follow up appointment to allow you time to mull over what we have to offer and bring any questions to the table.
You guys aren't one of those fly by night roofers are you?
Absolutely not! We have been serving Charlotte and surrounding areas since 2001. We will gladly help you in your process for hopefully getting a new roof if you have suffered storm damage, but we will also be there to stand by our work for years to come.
Are you one of those huge companies that think of me as just another roof?
No way! We are a family owned business that considers YOU part of the “SHS Family” when you contract with us. We have many customers who have used our services for one home, moved, and been sure to contact us for improvements on their new home because we stand by our work. We remember you and that’s why we often replace one component of someone’s home exterior and they return to us for subsequent items.
