What Is Fiber Cement Siding Made From?

Fiber cement siding is made up of four key ingredients, which combine to form a high-quality and durable siding material:

Portland cement: Typically made with clay, iron, and limestone, this material helps bind all the ingredients together.

Wood pulp: This makes the siding material more resilient and flexible.

Fly ash/silica sand: This component of the material acts as a filler.

Water: The water activates and hardens the Portland cement and dissolves the wood pulp.

F.A.Q.

Have a question? Here are some of our most inquired about items, but you may always contact a project consultant or our office for more information.

What color/style should I choose for my siding?

There are so many choices! Don’t be overwhelmed. It is the responsibility of your project consultant to make this choice simple for you. He will work with you to narrow down the colors and finishes and help you make decisions based on your preference, the general “look” of your neighborhood and even what works best for the weather in your area!

What happens if it rains before my project is complete?

Our scheduler and crews do an excellent job of predicting the timing of weather and time to complete your job, however, sometimes Mother Nature has some tricks up her sleeve. In these instances, they will very securely tarp any exposed areas of your home to ensure that no weather will penetrate or damage any areas that are not yet completed.

Will your consultant be at my house for hours?

Not unless you want us there for that long! We understand that your time is very valuable and we will stay as long as necessary to make you feel comfortable about the choices you are making but we NEVER overstay our welcome and will gladly schedule a follow up appointment to allow you time to mull over what we have to offer and bring any questions to the table.

Do the people installing my siding know what they are doing?

Our siding crews have been through extensive installation training for all types of siding but especially James Hardie and Mastic siding. They have many years of experience in the “right way” to install your siding. If you ever have any questions about work being done at your home, your project manager is always available to help you.

Will there be a mess at my house during my project?

We are always up front with you about your project, so yes, it can be a “messy” process, but our crews do everything they can to make it as pleasant as possible. We cover or avoid any delicate landscaping, clean up project debris every day, and make sure your home is protected from any weather (or critters) for the night. If you every believe that something hasn’t been done properly, just let your project manager know and it will be handled promptly!
